Paris Fashion Week is a series of designer presentations held semiannually in Paris, France with spring/summer and autumn/winter events held each year. It’s part of the global ‘Big 4’ fashion weeks. The dates are determined by the French Fashion Federation. Paris Fashion Week is held at venues throughout the city. In addition to ready-to-wear shows, there are men’s and haute couture shows, which are held semiannually. Every year famous brands like Dior, Chanel, Givenchy and Celine host their shows in historical places such as the Louvre and the Grand Palais.

The first recognized Paris Fashion Week was held in 1973 and organized Haute Couture, ready-to-wear and men’s fashion. Since then Paris Fashion Week is the most prestigious of all 4 Fashion Weeks and is considered the most important fashion week by names like Anna Wintour and Balmain.

As the years go, they are diversifying the models, hiring different race models, plus size models and overall expanding the modeling industry to new and different aspects that have not been seen.

This year designers started to explore and push things forward. “There are many, many things to talk about this season. It was incredibly creative and incredibly powerful,” says Anna Wintour to Vogue magazine.
